‘Baltic region’ – that’s the way people fondly refer to the tiny, peaceful area enveloping the Baltic Sea. The diverse groups of Baltic Sea countries (Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Sweden) which form part of Northern Eastern Europe are new entries into the European Union. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania constitute the Baltic States.

Though the Baltic countries share a common history, it is interesting to see them all cling on to their own unique languages and the cultural thread weaving around each of them for centuries together. You can hear people speaking the Latvian and Lithuanian languages, some of the oldest living languages in use.

Once known as ‘Amber Land’, the beautiful sea shore countries which comprise the Baltic region is a great place you can think of, if you have a holiday in mind-be it a romantic getaway, an adventurous wild weekend, sandy beaches or welcoming cities. The capitals of these countries, many of which are located by the Baltic Sea and have made it to the UNESCO World Heritage List are by themselves wonderful places to visit. What’s more, Baltic Sea is fast developing as a cruise travel destination and you can think of a cruise out in this brackish inland sea.

There is not a Baltic State which lags behind in gifting you that unique cultural experience you can proudly take away from here. And of course, the Lithuanian premium light beer is waiting for you!
